Winter/Spring Session

LEARN TO SKATE
Winter/Spring Session: Jan 8 - May 15, 2022 

Ages 3-Adult!

Register for our Winter/Spring session of Learn to Skate or ASPIRE on or before December 22nd to receive a "Holiday Gift Package" and give the gift of skating this Christmas season!  The package will include a SFFSC car decal, SFFSC vinyl sticker, (1) 15-minute private lesson to be scheduled during the Winter/Spring session of LTS, as well as a certificate stating that the recipient has received the gift of skating lessons!  The package can be picked up at LTS, the Holiday Exhibition, or mailed to an address.  Please consider registering soon in order to receive the package prior to Christmas.  

Our Winter/Spring Session is 16 weeks long, with the option to participate in the full session or just the first or second half of the session.  

Monday Classes - Full Session

Includes 30 minutes of group instruction and 15 minutes of practice ice each week. All participants must have a $45 SFFSC LTS membership to participate in our programs.

Which Class is Right For You?

Snowplow Sam: Introductory classes are divided into 4 progressive levels allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence and have fun while learning the basic skills of skating! Perfect for skaters ages 3-6 years.  Offered Monday evenings and Saturday mornings during the fall session.  

Basic Skills: Teaches the FUNdamentals of ice skating and provides the best foundation for figure skating through 6 progressive levels that prepare skaters to reach their goals in this sport; whether they be recreational or competitive in nature.  Perfect for skaters ages 7-13 years.  Offered Monday evenings and Saturday mornings during the fall session.

Tots: Our Tots class is perfect for beginning skaters between ages 2-4!  This class is focused on helping skaters become comfortable on the ice through a variety of games and activities.  

Small-Tall: Looking for a way to enjoy skating with your child?  This class is a perfect opportunity to learn skating skills with your child and try something new together.  

Teens & Adults: This curriculum is designed for both beginning and experienced adult and teen skaters who wish to learn to skate for the first time or improve their skating skills. Best for skaters ages 14 years and up.  Offered on Monday evenings during the fall session. 

Pre-Free Skate - Free Skate: Each free skate level is composed of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps — all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. Skaters must have passed Basic Skills 6 before enrolling.  Offered on Monday evenings during the fall session. 

ASPIRE: Is your skater ready to take the next step in their figure skating journey?  ASPIRE is a program designed for skaters in levels basic 4 to freeskate 3 that combines off-ice conditioning and on-ice instruction to promote figure skating advancement and introduce skaters to all the pathways Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club has to offer.  Head over to the ASPIRE page on our website to register or learn more!

IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Learn to Skate (LTS) skaters are considered members of the Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club, which requires a SFFSC LTS Membership.  Memberships for the 2021-22 calendar year will begin on July 1, 2021 and expire on June 30, 2022.  For your convenience, a link to this membership is located on the next page of this registration. You must purchase a SFFSC LTS Membership before we are able to welcome your skater onto the ice.  You will only have to do this once for the 2021-22 season.

Class Sizes: Our class sizes are limited to 15 per class, with a minimum of 5. We reserve the right to cancel or combine a class due to low enrollment.

Location: Classes are held at the SCHEELS IcePlex, 4300 N. Bobhalla Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57107 (Sanford Sports Complex)

Skate Rental: Rental skates are available at the IcePlex office for FREE during class times only. 

Helmets are strongly recommended for ALL Snowplow Sam classes. Skaters should bring their own helmets.  

Refunds: All registration and processing fees are non-refundable except in cases where Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club cancels classes.

Note: These sessions are by invite only, please arrange this with your coach before registering. Skater must be a LTS/Aspire program member. LTS Make-up Policy:

LTS participants will have the opportunity to make up as many classes as needed throughout the course of a session by requesting to attend LTS classes on days they do not register for.  Please email info@sffsc.com to schedule a make-up class.  No walk-in make-ups are allowed.

Adaptive Skating Program: The Adaptive Skating Program is designed to guide skaters with physical disabilities to develop skating skills. The program encourages skaters to begin and continue to develop skating skills progressively with the intention of maintaining recreational participation and competitive development. Skaters completing the Adaptive Skating curriculum may complete skills assisted or unassisted. The term “assisted” refers to the skater performing skills with the aid of another person. If skaters use an assistive device without a person, they are unassisted.
