HOCKEY ACADEMY

REGISTER NOW: Hockey Academy Session 2 Registration Form 

Fall Session 2 / October 28th – December 16th

Hockey Academy is a skating enrichment program through the SFFSC. Athletes in this program will work with coaches each week on strengthening their skating skills as well as balance, on ice agility, power and speed to help them become stronger hockey players.

Saturday Class

  • Beginner Hockey/Basic Hockey (Mini Atoms/Atoms): 9:15-9:45 AM
  • Intermediate Hockey (Atoms): 10:00-10:30 AM
  • Cost: $120 for the session
  • Dates: Oct. 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21, Dec. 5, 12
  • Includes 30 minute class and 15 minutes of practice ice

Wednesday Class

  • Advanced Hockey (Mites): 6:00-6:30 PM
  • Power: 6:45-7:15 PM
  • Cost: $160 for the session
  • Dates: Oct 28, Nov 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, 16
  • Includes 30 minute class and 15 minutes of practice ice

Wednesday Additional Practice Ice

  • Cost : $8 each day
  • Dates: Oct 28, Nov 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, 16
  • Time: 6:00-6:30 PM
  • Practice area will utilize 1/3 of the ice
  • Limited to 15 skaters each day

 

Class Descriptions

Beginner Hockey/Basic Hockey (Mini Atoms/Atoms)

- Learn to Skate USA Hockey Curriculum –

This class is designed for young and newer hockey players.

Athletes will focus on forward skating fundamentals. (Fwd gliding, on two feel and one foot, weigh transfers and stops.)

Backwards skating skills will also be introduced and practiced. (Backward skating and gliding on two feel, stops and transitions)

Target Class Ratio is 8 – 1.

Intermediate Hockey (Atoms)

- Learn to Skate USA Hockey/ USA Hockey Curriculum -

These skaters should have strong forward skating skills and be able to skate efficiently backwards.

Athletes will focus on developing backward skating skills. (backward double c -cuts, backward crossovers, inside and outside edges, pivots, alternating directions and stops.)

Hockey patterns and on ice courses will be utilized to work on multiple skills.

Target class Ratio is 8 - 1

Advanced Hockey (Mites)

- USA Hockey Curriculum -

These skaters have strong and consistent forward and backward skating skills.

Athletes in this class will work on agility and precision with their forward and backward skating, multiple transitions from forward to backward and other advanced skating skills.

Hockey patterns, stations and on ice courses will be utilized to work on multiple skills.

Target class Ratio is 8 - 1

Additional Information

Face coverings: For the health and safety of our skaters and coaches, we are requiring face coverings for all Beginner-Intermediate (Atoms) participants. If you do not have a face covering, one will be provided for you. Thank you for helping keep our community healthy!

Helmets: Helmets are required for ALL skaters. Skaters are required to bring their own helmets.

Refunds: All registration and processing fees are non-refundable except in cases where Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club cancels classes. Exceptions in extreme circumstances may be granted by the Board of Directors on a case-by-case basis.

  • Cost: $120 for the 6 week session
  • Dates: January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10
